Tensions escalated in the Pandaveswar Assembly constituency after flex banners of Trinamool Congress leaders, including Mamata Banerjee, Abhishek Banerjee, and candidate Narendranath Chakraborty, were found torn near the CM Project Guest House at Kumardihi No. 11. The incident triggered immediate protests by party workers, who alleged deliberate vandalism ahead of the elections.
Local TMC leaders claimed that the banners had been installed alongside those of opposition candidates, but only the ruling party’s hoardings were damaged. They pointed out that there had been no adverse weather conditions overnight, raising suspicion that the act was intentional. Party leaders Khokon Mondal and Sujit Roy Chowdhury accused BJP supporters of being behind the incident.
In response, TMC workers staged a road blockade in the area, demanding action against those responsible. The episode has added to rising political tensions in the constituency, with allegations and counter-allegations surfacing as campaigning intensifies ahead of the polls.
